Rabies Vaccination
A valid rabies vaccination is required for dogs and cats entering the Australia/New Zealand. The Rabies vaccination must be administered within the acceptable timeframe after the microchip implant.
Other Vaccinations or treatments
General health vaccinations are recommended for travel to Australia/New Zealand.
Rabies Titer Blood Test
A passing rabies titer blood test result (>=0.5 IU/ml) by an approved lab is required. The blood test must follow the Australian/New Zealand requirements of when and where the blood is tested. There is a six month waiting period after rabies titer blood testing prior to import to the Australia/New Zealand.
There are blood tests for several additional diseases required prior to the flight.
Health certificate
All dogs and cats entering the Australia/New Zealand must have a health check and health certificate endorsed by a government vet prior to flight. The timeframe for this is dependent on the country of export.
Import Permit
All pets entering Australia/New Zealand are required to have an import permit.
Banned Breeds
Pure breed Dogo Argentino, Fila Brazileiro, Japanese Tosa, Pit Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull, Perro de Presa Canario or Presa Canario are banned from import to Australia/New Zealand.
Quarantine
All pets will be subjected to a minimum of ten days quarantine upon arrival to Australia/New Zealand.
Preparation Time
We recommend you start preparing your dog or cat atleast seven months in advance of your planned flight date. Puppies and Kittens may take longer to prepare.
In order to import into the Australia or New Zealand, all pets must travel as manifested cargo. Entry to Australia is exclusively through Melbourne. Entry to New Zealand is through Auckland and Wellington only, transiting through approved countries
