Rabies Vaccination
All dogs entering the United States are required to have a valid rabies vaccination upon import. *While cats are not required to be vaccinated against rabies, it is recommended for the well being and general health.
Other Vaccinations or treatments
General health vaccinations are recommended for travel to the United States.
Rabies Titer Blood Test
Rabies Titer is not required for import to the United States.
Health certificate
A health check and certificate endorsed by a government veterinarian within ten days of arrival to the USA is required for all dogs and cats imported to the United States. *While cats are not required to have a valid health certificate for import to the United States it may be an export requirement from your country and the airlines may request one as well.
Import permits
Import permits are not required for dogs or cats that are imported into the United States as family pets.
Banned Breeds
Generally, the United States does not ban any breeds of animals, however some states do ban certain breeds, so it is recommended that you check with local state authorities prior to the importation.
Quarantine
There is no quarantine for healthy dogs or cats that are imported to the United States according to proper import regulations.
Preparation Time
We recommend you start preparing your dog or cat atleast a month in advance of your planned flight date. Puppies and Kittens may take longer to prepare.
Please note that Hawaii is an exception and has its own regulations not outlined above.
